Wirral College names CWP plumber apprentice of the year

by CWP News - 19 August 2021

James Brady, a plumbing/fitting apprentice at Cheshire and Wirral Partnership (CWP) NHS Foundation Trust, has been named Apprentice of the Year by Wirral Met College.

James, who has worked for CWP for six years and is currently undertaking his second apprenticeship, was nominated for the apprentice of the year award by his tutor for ‘giving 100% to everything that is asked of him and showing great drive and determination’.

After completing his advanced apprenticeship in maintenance engineering, James decided to further his knowledge by working toward a gas engineering qualification. As a plumber, James’ role includes carrying out planned maintenance on heating, hot/cold water and drainage systems within a number of properties in the Cheshire and Wirral areas, as well as day-to-day work such as repairing systems, boiler installations and system maintenance.

Apprenticeships are role related learning leading to a recognised qualification. For more information about apprenticeships at CWP, visit cwp.nhs.uk and search ‘Apprenticeships’.

James said: “I'm very pleased to have been recognised by Wirral Met for this award and my next step is working to become a gas safe registered engineer. Doing what I do gives me a great sense of pride. Ensuring things run effectively means patients can receive the care they need in a timely and efficient manner.”

Stewart Gordan, Estates Maintenance Manager at CWP, added: “I have only been James’ manager for a short period of time however it is no surprise to me that James has won this award. He is a motivated person who demonstrates a good attitude towards his work. I am looking forward to working more with James in the future and getting to know him better.”
